I may be a day too late with this now but Melvin provides a decent opportunity for those fantasy owners with severely underperforming or injured 3rd basemen such as Zimmerman. Melvin’s BABIP is well below his career norms and he’s in line with the career norms for plate discipline. His HR/FB is up even though he’s hitting more GB, but that may be a large part of the BABIP. Melvin is not going to produce like a superstar but he will give you above average stats across the board from here on out. I would expect about 15 HR and 40 RBIs from here on out.

Hank finally returned from the surgeries and has resumed 3rd base duties for the Rangers. Problem that I see is that he had major wrist surgery for a neurological problem which effected his pain and his grip strength. Carpal Tunnel has a tendency to come back at some point but even if it doesn’t come back this year the fact that he injured his wrist means it will effect his swing. His power will be decreased as will his bat control to come extant. Sell him off now before he turns into a 3rd base version of Richie Sexson.
